30 Days – Can I just say … ?

My god, I am glad this is done.  OK – without further ado – here is the rest of this effing challenge!

25. Four weird traits you have

  1. I’m a ridiculously fast reader.
  2. I can remember any amount of ridiculous minutia, but the amounts of things that I CANNOT remember is equally ridiculous.
  3. I talk in my sleep.
  4. I walk in my sleep.

26. Things you’d say to an ex

Good Lord, I’m glad I dodged that bullet.

27. What you wore today

Well, on this particular day I’m wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and a cardigan sweater that my mom gave to me.  This is my typical uniform unless you swap out pajama pants for the jeans.

28. The word/phrase you use constantly.

“Perfect!”  Even when it’s not …

29. The night of your 21st birthday.

Mwahahahahahahaha.  I need to see if I can actually resurrect the photo from my 21st birthday.  I don’t remember much of the night, but I do remember having a ridiculously great time.  And my mom picked me up and drove me home from the bar.  I have a ridiculously great mom.

30. One thing you’re excited for.

That this challenge is DONE!  And we can go back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Thanks for playing!

30 Days – Days 20-24

20. Put your music player on shuffle and write the first three songs that play and what your initial thought is

I did this the other day and my thought was “damn, these are lame.” 1) Rolling in the Deep – Adele.  OK, so this one isn’t lame. But hilarious nugget of information, this is one of my dad’s favorite songs.  So, I can’t listen to it without thinking of my 60+ father rocking out to it.  That just makes me smile. 2) A Groovy Kind of Love – Phil Collins.  See my note above about being lame.  3) Prince Paul – Everlast.  I don’t know that I’ve ever sat down and listened to this song in its entirety …

21. Your zodiac/horoscope and whether you think it fits you

Heh.  I’m a Leo.  I think that’s the bossiest sign in the Zodiac and if you met me and my eldest son on any given day, you’d know that we were born in the right house.

22. Your morning routine

I wake up.  Usually with a child somewhere in my near vicinity.  If I’m lucky, I get really nice snuggles; if I’m not, they immediately demand beverages.  My husband leaves for work – I resent him just a little bit, because that’s when both of my children decide that he’s their favorite/preferred parent and they demonstrate that by having epic meltdowns.  And this is before 630 AM.  Way before coffee.  At around 7, they get breakfast.  After breakfast, I either pick up the disaster that we’ve made of the kitchen or I catch up on my reading.  Coffee is made at some point in this juncture.  It’s not the first thing I do in the AM, because I actually like to sit and enjoy it and that’s what I do when I go down to my desk for work.  And then the babysitter arrives at 8.  I resist the urge to hug her and thank her for restoring my sanity.  I fill her in on whether my children have the urge to use their powers for good or evil.  Then I go to work.

23. A family member you dislike

Hmmm … this writing challenge doesn’t pull punches, does it?  And right before Thanksgiving too.  Honestly – I don’t really have a family member that I dislike.  There are certain family members who do things I dislike, but considering that they put up with my shenanigans, we’ll call it even.

24. Something you miss

My grandpa Stan.  Every day of my life.  I think he’d be amused by my writing escapades.  He would definitely be amused by his great-grandsons.

30 Days – Day 17

Towards the tail end of October, The Writer’s Circle posted a photo on Facebook that contained a 30-Day Writing Challenge. I liked the questions and I liked the idea of sharing a little bit more information about me (as opposed to my strange Internet reading habits), I decided to join in! If you’re participating – go ahead and leave a comment with your links below!

17. A quote you try to live by

Some days, my quote is “Damn the torpedoes!” When confronted with something that I really don’t want to do, it is “Never been a better time than right now.”  And anymore, the quote I aspire to live by is Ghandi’s “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

30 Days – Days 14-16

Uff da – I’m already behind on the writing challenge.  Which … yeah.  This weekend was an abnormally balmy one in November and I lived it up with my kiddos.  So … without further ado – here are the days I missed on my challenge.

14. Your life in 7 years

The easiest way for me to answer this question is to think about my children.  My eldest will be 10 years old; my youngest a nine-year-old.  I imagine the books they’ll be reading, I think about the trips we’ll take together.  It makes me so excited, yet oh so sad at the same time … I can’t believe how fast this time is going.

15. Three pet peeves

Ignorance.  Hatred.  People who don’t use their blinker when they are changing lanes.

16. Bullet your entire day

Good Lord, you don’t want to deal with the boredom.  Know that my day is fueled by little boy hugs and kisses, as well as copious amounts of coffee.

12. Two words/phrases that make you laugh

Hmmm … this one is going to take some thought.  What words / phrases make you laugh?

11. Your current relationship; if single, discuss that too

My husband’s a pretty private person, so I think if I ended up prattling on and on about him, he’d get annoyed with me.  Suffice it to say – I’m married, I’ve been married for over six years, and we’ve known each other for nearly 15 years.  I am one of those ridiculous people who literally married my best friend.  He’s a good and attentive dad.  He is ridiculously attractive.  He supports my writing dreams by letting me follow my arrow – I am so very lucky to have that in my life.

10. A fruit you dislike and why

By and large, I like fruit and will eat almost anything that’s put in front of me.  However, I tire easily of cantaloupe and honeydew melon.  They are watermelon’s ass-y brothers.
